Bali Against AIDS’s goal is to educate young Balinese people and tourists about the risks of HIV/AIDS and to empower them with the knowledge they need to protect themselves in a fun and uplifting way, using pop culture -the signature method of Designers Against AIDS. These means involving stars, fashion, music, videos, social media and other interests of young people to get the message to them that using protection is still the only cure against AIDS and to respect yourself and your partner.
We were very happy to welcome the organizations and some media such as television, radio, and others who came to the press conference. We also had 3 speakers for the press conference. They are, Ninette Murk, the founder and director of Designers Against AIDS, Brenton Whittaker from Bali Kids, an orphanage that provides pre and postoperative care for children with special medical needs including HIV and Ayu Ratna Wulandari, from KISARA, the local youth section of Indonesia Planned Parenthood Assocation.
After the opening speech from the 3 speakers, we had a Question and Answer session, where we got questions from the media about the pop culture method and also the contents of the website. And after the Q and A session, we had a break time, enjoyed the snacks and had a nice conversation with the media. We also gave “Keep Safe and Carry One” stickers to everyone who came and we are planning to distribute it also to every young people in Bali. We were very glad to announce this exciting initiative to organizations and media partners, and we are hope that we can collaborate and work together in the future in order to against AIDS.
