Today is a holiday in Indonesia and our Hindu friends are celebrating Nyepi. What is Nyepi? is Nyepi is a "Day of Silence" that is commemorated every Isakawarsa (Saka new year) which according to the Balinese calender is today.
Observed from 6 AM until 6 am the next morning, Nyepi is a day reserved for self-reflection and as such, anything that might interfere with that purpose is restricted. The main restrictions are no lighting fires (and lights must be kept low); no working; no entertainment or pleasure; no traveling; and, for some, no talking or eating at all. So today is a special day for our Hindu friends and more over, today is also the day when the solar eclipse happens! I think that having a self-reflection day is a good thing and maybe everybody should do that. Happy Nyepi Day!
Enter our territory and follow the days of the lives of the protagonists of our project. On this page they will tell you everything about their work with Bali Against Aids. This blog will be their online diary: an opportunity for them to share their experiences and to give you a sneak peak into their life.
Enjoy the ride!
