I was on my period and one day when I'm chatting with my friend, he asked how am I doing. Then I told him that I'm not feeling really well because it's my period (it was my second day). Since he never experiences what girls feel every month, he got a little curious about ‘How does a period feel like for girls' and asked me if I can explain it to him. Well, it made me think for quite some time about how to explain it.
Then suddenly I started to ask myself this question "Do you know what is a period?" And I started to google the answer. I realized that since the day of my first period until today, nobody gave me the exact information about periods. In Indonesia, many people say that a period is a way of the female's body to flush away all the bad things in their blood. Is this correct? Well... not really. The truth is, I got the exact information about period from a manga comic instead of being taught by my teachers or even my parents. And that's not OK. We really need decent sex education in Indonesia!
