Good news comes from the medical world! For the last five years, Caribbean countries participated in antiretroviral treatment to break the chain of transmission of HIV and syphilis from mother to baby. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) Cuba became the first country to break the chain. Dr. Margaret Chan, the director-general of WHO, said: "This is a major victory in our long fight against HIV and sexually transmitted infections and an important step towards having an AIDS-free generation."
