Court in the city: recently the Tokyo District Court ruled that a man was not unfaithful because he paid for sex. A man who had sex with a woman other than his wife has been excused of cheating by a court - because he paid money for it. The Tokyo District Court made the ruling when a man was sued by his wife following her discovery of a long-running sexual relationship with a nightclub hostess. Judge Masamitsu Shiseki said that the wife in the case was not eligible for compensation, as sexual relationships involving the exchange of money can’t be considered adultery, reports the Japan Times. The Japanese legal magazine Hanrei Times is quoted by the paper, discussing ‘makura eigyo’, roughly meaning ‘pillow sales tactic’. Literally speaking, ‘makura eigyo’ involves the hostess carrying on a sexual relationship with a customer to make sure he continues to come to the venue. The wife in the case has asked for more than £20,000 in compensation for ‘psychological distress’ over the relationship, which allegedly went on for more than seven years. But the judge said that as long as there was payment it was a business transaction which wouldn't harm the marital relationship. Do you guys agree with that? We think it’s wrong on so many levels.
