How was your Easter break people? I bet it was a very pleasant and fun break you've had. I enjoyed it as much as you guys and kind of miss it already. Talking about Easter, has it ever crossed your mind why it was called Easter? I'll share it with you! Just like everyone knows, Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus three days after he dies on the cross to wash away the sins of mankind. But what was Easter before it was stamped with Christian religious symbolism? How in the world did rabbits and eggs and springtime pastels become associated with the death, reanimation and ascension of Jesus? The answer is "Isthar". Ishtar (actually pronounced "Easter") was a mythical Babylonian Goddess who represented sex and fertility. Her real name, however, was Semiramus. On Easter, while you're out hiding eggs for the kids and eating chocolate rabbits, remember that both are pagan symbols of sex and fertility.
