According to Bali Provincial Health Office data, there were 11.311 cases of HIV/AIDS in Bali so far and the figures continue to grow. At the same time many people are still unaware or have a little knowledge concerning HIV/AIDS. Therefore, Mr. Ketut Sudikerta, Vice Governor of Bali, invites society to make concrete steps in the fight against HIV/AIDS by maximizing family roles as a precaution to minimize stigma and discrimination in the society. By adhering to these family roles, it is expected that they can deliver proper information about the transmission and treatment of HIV / AIDS, so that people are more aware of the issue as well as to indicate support from the family and society itself.
Mr. Sudikarta also believes that prevention can also be done by forming a series of AIDS Care Villages in remote villages in Bali. Thus, the socialization of HIV/AIDS can be maximized. By this meaning that the society should fight against HIV/AIDS altogether as a family and like a family. As in to minimize discrimination for people with HIV / AIDS and decrease stigma that arise among the society. I think people should think about that, even we are strangers however we are still a family altogether Like one of my favorite quotes says: “Ohana means family. Family means that nobody gets left behind or forgotten.” So no matter what happens, family is always family.
